Moodboards

First I created mood boards that related to elements of each of my ideas to help give me some inspiration for style and colours.

-Map Designs

I created a mood board of map designs because one of my ideas was based around a map of the area so I wanted some inspiration for the style of my map. I wanted something quite quirky and illustrated to keep it simplified so I found these types of map. The biggest influences to my designs were the 2 in the top left, because I took inspiration from the brown one because of the shapes of the buildings and trees, and from the coloured one for the layout and bright colours.

Style

Next I made a mood board to give me some inspiration for the style of my illustrations. I wanted something quite simple and 2D so I found images that reflected this as well as looking at buildings to help me when drawing them.

Shopping bags

I also made a mood board of existing reusable shopping bags to see the sorts of designs already on the market. This mood board was well helpful because I could see the types of designs and colours that worked best on the bags.

Local Designers

I also created a mood board of local designers work. This is to help me get an idea of the style of graphic design usually seen within the area as the designs are supposed to represent bristol.

Shops in white ladies road / cot ham hill

Finally I made a mood board of shops around white ladies road. I photographed a variety so that I could try and create designs that captured bits of each of these shops.
